Our Job Is Bringing The Forest Home

The Way of the Wood

We are proud to be a part of the Northern European tradition of wood production. During the last 30 years it undergone many changes. Today advanced technology is used in all stages: from harvesting to grading, cutting, planing, kiln drying and packaging.

Northern Traditions and Sustainable Forestry

Throughout the history forest provided everything that allowed people to survive and thrive in a harsh Northern climate. That is why forest in Northern Europe is treated with special respect, care and love.

Today forestry is a well established agricultural branch. Harvested areas undergo reforestation and the annual growth is greater than annual harvesting.

All our lumber comes from sustainable forests and has PEFC certification.

Harvesting

Today harvesting is performed with the help of advanced technology. Special machinery is used to cut the tree, measure the logs and remove branches on the spot.

The harvest is carried out mainly in wintertime when the ground is frozen to minimize the heavy machinery damage to the ground.

Cutting and Grading: Low-Tech became High-Tech

Computer programming, camera and X-Ray grading maximized efficiency in lumber production in recent years.

Every log is X-Rayed and on the basis of the parameters received it will be graded and designated for the right end product.

Today the camera will recognize cracks, knots, wormholes and even blue stain with 1% of misgrading.

Machining

Technological development impacted lumber production processes. It made the difference in various aspects: working speed, quality of the end product, more control on different stages of the process and overall efficiency achieved by better calculation of the material use.

Cutting Optimization

Until 20 Years ago the log was taken into production as is. Now special machines are turning log around to optimize the cutting.

Blades used in production today are 1.5-2 mm thick which is a significant improvement on a previous generation of blades that were 5 mm thick with a tolerance of about 10%. This upgrade helps to keep tolerance controlled up to 1% only.

Kiln Drying/ Heat Treatment

All our lumber including the packaging material is kiln dried according to clients needs and requirements of the receiving country and accompanied by related certificates.
